Prefix: ab, abs

Meaning: Off, away, from

1.    ab+duct : away + to lead = to kidnap
2.    ab+bhor : from+ shudder = to loathe
3.    ab+jure :  away + swear = to renounce
4.    ab+ sent : away + to be = to be absent
5.    ab+solve : from+ loosen = to forgive

Prefix: ad-

Meaning: to, towards, near, at

1.    ad+apt : to +fit = to adjust
2.    ad+jac+ent : near +to lie+ suffix = lie next to
3.    ad+mir+e : at +wonder +suffix = to esteem
4.    ad+opt  : to + choose = to choose
5.    ad+ vic +e : to + follow =  a view

    how can i improve my memory. i cant memorize any word and implementation in the real life conversation…?

    Hi Javed, u can certainly refine ur memory…do not try to learn a number of words a day..give yourself two to three words and try to imbibe their essence thoroughly. Use the word with your family/friends..I am sure u will see a difference..

    thanks very much for this wonderful site. I have made flash cards using the gre tough words. I learn 15 words a day and I am making very good progress. Please, is it good to use the tough words for the cards for the sake of the gre exams. Thank you.
