Sponsored Links

Students harbor innumerable doubts in mind while drafting a Statement of Purpose. This is an attempt to clarify a few very pertinent doubts related to writing SOPs. I am sure students will find this blog immensely useful. Underneath are listed a few ‘wrong notions’ pertaining to writing SOPs. Right under the wrong notion the fact is mentioned in order to help you understand the nitty-gritty’s of writing SOPs.

Fallacy No 1: The purpose of Statement of Purpose is to list all your skills and abilities.

Fact No 1: The purpose of an SOP is to kindle interest in the University board and generate an admission

Fallacy No 2: Attractive Vocabulary improves the quality of an SOP

Fact No 2: This is utterly wrong. An attractive vocabulary doesn’t improve the quality of your SOP. Simple words that substantiate your genuine passion for specific courses reflect your sincerity. A pompous use of words will do nothing

Fallacy No 3: Your SOP will not be read carefully and thoroughly

Fact No 3: Your SOP will be read carefully and thoroughly by the admission board

Fallacy No 4: The more good information you present in the SOP the better

Fact No 4: By including too much information, an SOP may actually kill the appetite to learn more

Fallacy No 5: If you want a really good SOP, have it prepared by an SOP service

Fact No 5: Many Grad Schools look for a simple, honest SOP

I hope this blog clarifies many a doubt on writing SOPs. Do you still have queries/doubts in the same area? Ask us right away. You can in fact put your doubt underneath this blog. Our experts will come to your rescue instantly.

this is another alternave to the above SOP. I am bijiga abeya terfasa. I was born in1987 from my parents Abeya and Aster.then I joined grade 1 in the 1998.I passed through different obsacles to complete my lower grades.the big thing that contributed to this is my rurality background. there was an elementery school with only 2 grades in my village.the school was 1 hour from my home.the I joined an other elmentary school whose name was hadiyya. it had only 5 grades. It took me to go to the school about 2 hours.I learnt there two grades, grades 3 and4.
an other elenmtary school was Ifa suchi. my house 3 hours far from it. I completed there up to grade 8
then I learnt at Gulliso secondary high school for 2 years to coplete grade 10.
then I started to learn at an other secondary high school called lalo ayira secondary shool.
then in the past few recent years I joined haramaya university by th field of Agriculture in the year 2008. I am to graduated in the next few months.
in addition to my education, I can write poems, litrature and the like.

I am glad to know that people who have been left behind due to circumstances in their lives have an opportunity.

However, I would wish to know whether there is an age limit to this and the whether one can send a statement of purpose to any university of choice in the US and be considered.

I will be glad to hear from you.

  37. tope on July 14th, 2010 11:39 am

please is a SOP the same as a letter of motivation. if NO please what are the peculiarities of a motivational letter.

  38. shipra on July 16th, 2010 5:17 am

Hi tope ,SOP is a certificate that how serious you are about admission ,some extant you can say it is a motivation letter,it motivates panel to motivate to grant you admission. But SOP is more about your genuineness for admission ,it is all about you..

  45. Sarvesh on September 18th, 2010 5:23 am

If there are experts just for preparing a SOP at SOP service, why is it wrong to go to them fetching help? If following WORDLIST site is good, then having experts write your SOP is also not bad. The University Board would not know about it, would they? If there are things you can exploit for your own benefits, you should not stop yourself.

  46. shipra on September 20th, 2010 5:05 am

Sarvesh, you can always take help from somebody but do not try to write your SOP by somebody else. what emotions you can put in your SOP , somebody else can not.Graduate schools are very particular about SOP.DON’T do this folly by preparing your SOP by somebody else.

  47. Tochukwu on October 16th, 2010 5:20 pm

Why not give us an example. Thanks anyway

  48. shipra on October 18th, 2010 4:20 am

Tochukwe, there is no set pattern(like application or letter),through the post we have focused on students should write their SOP by their own.we do not want student should follow some prewritten format.

  49. Shohag on January 1st, 2011 2:43 pm
